A .jfif file is a JPEG with an unusual name, often given by Windows when you save an image from a browser. Upload forms that check the extension reject it; converting gives you a normal .jpg, for many files at once.

Your files never leave your device.

Questions people ask

What is a JFIF file?
JFIF is the most common way of storing a JPEG, so the picture inside is an ordinary JPEG. Only the .jfif name is unusual.
Can I just rename it to .jpg?
Yes, for a single file that works. Converting here does many at once and also removes the camera data the file carried.
Why does Windows save images as .jfif?
A Windows setting maps the JPEG type to .jfif, so some browsers use that name when saving. Changing the registry value for .jfif fixes it, but converting is quicker.
